Confusion In Rivers APC As Wike Turns State To Construction Site …Takes Development To Amaechi’s Ubima Community …Opens Up More Rural Communities …Vow To Reverse Infrastructural Deficit of Past 8 Years ….Ubima Community Decry Neglect By Amaechi
Governor Ezenwo Ntesom Wike of Rivers State has been commended by the people of Ubima, home town of Rotimi Amaechi, Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation for saving them from the embarrassment of extinction.
The commendation was contained in an address presented by the Secretary of Ubima Council of Chiefs, Dr. Jude Nwoka during the flag off of the rehabilitation of Community Secondary School Ubima in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State on Saturday.
Joined by the Community Development Committee, the people described the governor as a messiah that has visited to redefine the physical and social development of Ubima town. The community lamented how they have been in darkness, without electricity even after their son had been in power both as speaker and as governor for 16 years.
Speaking at the occasion, Sir Celestine Omehia, former Rivers governor and who is a native of Ubima town condemned the neglect of his community by his cousin, Rt. Hon.Amaechi but thanked Governor Wike for remembering Ubima and promised that the community will not disappoint him.
Earlier in their speeches, Chief Sergeant Awuse and Senator George Sekibo were united in condemning the neglect of Ubima community by the former governor, Rt. Hon. Amaechi when he had opportunity to rewrite the history of Ubima by providing for them basic amenities such as hospital, school, recreational centre, roads and water which are lacking.
In his own address, Governor Wike wondered how some one will hate his community to the point of refusing to build a personal house but maintained that the people of Ubima deserves a better treatment than was given to them from their own son,
Meanwhile, beyond the rehabilitation of the dilapidated secondary school, the governor promised to also provide electricity for the town just as he directed the commissioner for health to quickly mobilise and ensure that the abandoned hospital is fixed without delay.
The elated people of Ubima gave gifts of farm produce to the governor for being there for them.
Commenting on the giant strides of Governor Wike, Special Adviser to the governor on Political Affairs and Strategy, Barr. Emeh Glory Emeh had this to say:
“What you are seeing is a tip of the ice berg. Governor Wike is in a hurry to correct the waste of the past eight years orchestrated by the immediate past administration of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi.
“That is why the governor is constantly on the move inaugurating new projects, inspecting on going projects and commissioning completed projects as if he is starting to build the state afresh.
“I want to assure you that by the third anniversary of Governor Wike administration in May this year, the state will wear the look of a new city”, the political strategist concluded with confidence.
